On 10 September, the Chinese Teacher’s Day, all the teachers at theSUIBE-sponsored Confucius Institute at the University of Zagreb inCroatia gathered together with local Chinese to honor teachers andeducators around the world.
At the gathering, Mr. Chen Wenzi, General Manager of the localOrient Restaurant, expressed his cordial greetings to all theteachers at Confucius Institute Zagreb. He pointed out that for thepast three years since its establishment, the Confucius Institutehad contributed greatly to the promotion of the Chinese culture inCroatia through the teaching of the Chinese language and helped tostrengthen friendly relations between the peoples of the twocountries. At the same time, he pledged his continued support tothe future development of the Confucius Institute together with thelocal Chinese community.
Mr. Yan Lidong, Chinese director of Confucius Institute Zagreb,presented Mr. Chen with Chinese learning books and resources. Inhis remarks, Mr. Yan pointed out that without the support of localChinese, Confucius Institute Zagreb could not have developed sosmoothly. He reaffirmed his resolve to build a better future forConfucius Institute Zagreb.
In response to an increasing demand for Chinese learning centers,Confucius Institute Zagreb is slated to open classrooms in Splitand Rijeka, the second and the third largest city in Croatia, laterthis year, while continuing to expand its presence in Zagreb,Croatia’s capital. All the preparatory work is well under way.
