Mr. Qiu Guixi, Dean of SUIBE School of International Studies,attended the First Civil BRICS Forum held in Moscow, Russia, from29 June to 1 July 2015, and delivered a speech titled “Room for theDevelopment of Education in BRICS Countries – Route forStrengthening Academic Cooperation”. Earlier, Mr. Qiu, togetherwith Mr. Sheng Guofang, former ambassador of China to the UN,attended the meeting reviewing the statement and agenda of theForum.
Twenty delegates from each of the five BRICS countries were invitedto attend the Forum, a prelude to the BRICS Summit taking place on7-8 July in Ufa, Russia. The delegates prepared a list ofrecommendations for BRICS leaders on a wide range of criticalissues.
BRICS refers to the five major emerging national economies: Brazil,Russia, India, China and South Africa, representing over 25% of thegross world product and 44% of the world population. Russiacurrently holds the presidency of the BRICS group.
