On the afternoon of 17 June, SUIBE Vice President Nie Qin met withProfessor Tanja Mihalič, Vice Vector of the University of Ljubljanain Slovenia. Zou Nanan, Director of International Exchange Office,Quan Hua, Dean of School of Tourism and Event Management, and JiangXiujuan, Deputy Dean of School of Tourism and Event Management,were also present at the meeting.
During the talks, Vice President Nie spoke highly of theachievements made by Confucius Institute Ljubljana jointlysponsored by the two universities and highlighted the prospects ofcooperation in teaching, research, and faculty and studentexchange. Dean Quan briefed the Slovenian guest on the latestdevelopments of SUIBE School of Tourism and Event Management andexplored ways of future cooperation in seven areas such assynchronous virtual classroom, study tours, and academiccollaboration, to which Vice Vector Mihalič responded positively.
During her stay at SUIBE, Vice Vector Mihalič also gave a lectureon sustainable tourism to students majoring in tourism, discussingthe importance of tourism to the Slovenian economy, analyzing thethree pillars of sustainable tourism, and comparing the developmentof tourism in China’s mainland, Hong Kong and Slovenia. At the endof her lecture, Vice Vector Mihalič took questions from thestudents.
