Prof. Dennis Rumley, Curtin University and Prof. Sanjay Chaturvedi,Panjab University were invited to visit the School of Law at SUIBEon May 25 and 26. They gave lectures on the identity issues ofAustralia and competitive regionalism, and geopolitics of climatechange in the Polar Regions respectively. The lectures weremoderated by Prof. Guo Xuetang, Deputy Dean of the School of Lawand Director of the Research Institute for International Strategyand Policy Analysis. Over 70 students and teachers from theprograms of international politics and public administrationattended the lectures.
A renowned Australian expert on Indian Ocean studies, Prof. DennisRumley analyzed the identity problems of Australia and relatedissues from the perspective of Australia’s geopolitics. Prof.Sanjay Chaturvedi, a famous Indian expert on polar geopolitics anda member of the Indian delegation to the Antarctic Treaty, sharedhis views on polar geopolitics at the backdrop of climate change.The two professors also have rich experiences in teaching inuniversities. Their thorough and clear-cut presentations andresponses to the questions raised by students were highlyappreciated by the audience.
