On the morning of 2 July 2014, Professor Sarah Derrington, theAcademic Dean and Head of the TC Beirne School of Law at theUniversity of Queensland (UQ) in Australia, visited SUIBE School ofLaw. Professor Ni Shoubing, Deputy Dean of Law, and AssociateProfessor Nu Ming, Director for Foreign Liaison, met with theAustralian guest. The two sides exchanged views on matters relatingto joint programs, academic collaboration and staff exchanges andreached agreement on a wide range of topics: As an overseaspartner, UQ School of Law is to host a one-month study tour forstudents at SUIBE Co-Effort Law School, including intensivelectures on two courses and visits to Australian Maritime SafetyAuthority (AMSA), admiralty courts and law firms; the study tourwill start for maritime law students on a pilot basis and later beexpanded to include students in other legal fields; more SUIBE lawstudents studying in UQ will be offered scholarships; aSino-Australian Maritime Law Center will be established between thetwo sides, engaging in joint academic research and publication;preferential policy will be adopted for SUIBE teachers applying forUQ doctoral programs; the two sides will host teacher exchangeprograms.
