On the afternoon of 4 April 2014, Professor Peter A. Joy, HenryHitchcock Professor of Law and Director of Criminal Justice Clinicat Washington University School of Law in St. Louis, came to visitSUIBE School of Law. Associate Professor Huang Jie, Deputy Dean ofSchool of Law, and Associate Professor Lu Ming, Director ofExternal Relations Division, met with Professor Joy and held talkson a wide range of topics such as distance education, clinic legaleducation, and teacher exchange programs.
After visiting the moot court, the moot arbitral tribunal, and themock law firm at SUIBE School of Law, Professor Joy was impressedby the practice-based learning and expressed his wish to extendcooperation in areas such as Philip C. Jessup International LawMoot Court Competition (JESSUP).
During his stay at SUIBE, Professor Joy also gave a lectureentitled “The Right to a Jury Trial in the United States” to lawstudents, in which he provided an interesting account of thehistory, scope, size and selection of jury in America. At the endof his lecture, he took questions from the students.
Washington University School of Law in St. Louis is well known forits clinic legal education, and Professor Joy is a recipient of theAssociation of American Law Schools’ (AALS) Pincus Award foroutstanding contribution to clinical legal education.
