On the evening of 29 January 2014, teachers and students of theConfucius Institute at the University of Ljubljana (CI Ljubljana),which operates in partnership with the Shanghai University ofInternational Business and Economics (SUIBE), gathered at the HongKong Restaurant together with people from all walks of life inSlovenia to welcome in the Chinese New Year of Horse, or SpringFestival. More than 100 people attended the event, includingofficials from the Slovenian Foreign Ministry, Mayor of theMunicipality of Bled Mr. Janez Fajfar, Rector of the University ofLjubljana Dr. Ivan Svetlik, Chinese Ambassador to Slovenia Mr.Zhang Xianyi and his wife, Counselor of the Chinese Embassy Ms. WuDongmei, deans of Confucius Classrooms, partners of ConfuciusInstitute, Chinese living in Slovenia and Slovenes of Chinesedescent. Ms. Danijela Voljč, Director of CI Ljubljana on theSlovenian side, and Mr. Chen Jian, Director of CI Ljubljana on theChinese side, gave welcome remarks. Ms. Mirnesa Šabic and Mr. ChenJian presided at the Chinese New Year’s Gala Show.
Chinese volunteer teachers and Chinese students in Slovenia put upimpressive performances for the Spring Festival Gala Show, whichlasted for over three hours.
