Professor Syed Ejaz Ahmed, Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics andScience, Brock University, Canada, recently visited SUIBE and gavea lecture titled “Perspectives on Human Bias versus Machine Bias:Big Data Analysis?” to teachers and graduate students of the SUIBE School of Business InformationManagement.
During Professor Ahmed’s stay at SUIBE, the leaders of BusinessInformation Management School, including Liu Yonghui, Liu Hui, ZhouXiaodong and Fang Denfeng, met with Professor Ahmed, discussingfrontier issues in statistical research and education in the era ofbig data and reaching agreement in future academic cooperation.
A Pakistani-Canadian statistician, Professor Ahmed is a fellow ofthe American Statistical Association and the associate editor ofthe four leading international statistical journals. Currentlyprofessor and dean of Brock’s Faculty of Mathematics and Science,he served as head of the Department of Mathematics and Statisticsat the University of Regina and at the University of Windsor,Canada. Over the past 20 years of teaching and research instatistics, he has authored more than 100 peer-reviewed articles,contributing greatly to theoretical and applied statisticalresearch, learning and services.
