On 29 October, a three-member delegation from the University ofEast London (UEL) led by Dusty Amroliwala, Deputy Vice Chancellorand Chief Operating Officer visited SUIBE. Vice President XuXiaowei met with the delegation. Lin Jie, Deputy Dean of the Schoolof Finance, He Xuehui, Professor of the School of Finance (now Deanof the School of Finance), and Yang Xiaoyan, Deputy Director of theProfessional Development Center were also present at the meeting.
After a brief introduction on SUIBE, VP Xu expressed the wish toexpand the cooperation between the two universities, building uponour existing success in cooperation on student exchange, to facultyexchange and academic exchange. She also expected to collaboratewith UEL on preliminary research and feasibility research into someemerging disciplines and specializations, with a view to improvingthe internationalization of education.
DVC Amroliwala introduced UEL in particular the disciplines andprograms where UEL enjoys a competitive edge and expressed the wishto go beyond the existing scope of cooperation with SUIBE andexpand to cooperation in emerging disciplines where UEL has anadvantage.
The two universities signed a framework agreement on thecooperation and exchanges in financial studies. After the meeting,DVC Amroliwala gave a lecture on the HR strategies in UK’s publicsectors.
UEL is a comprehensive and public university in the London Boroughof Newham, east London, England. It covers the largest area amongall the universities in London. After over a century’s developmentsince its establishment in 1892, UEL has transformed into a newtype of university. It is recognized by the UK Department forEducation and University Grants Committee as the first among theemerging universities. Some of its programs ranks among the firstnationwide.
