The award ceremony for 2012 O’Melveny & Myers Shanghai LegalScholarship was held on the night of 18 October. Present at theceremony were some 100 people, including senior partners fromO’Melveny & Myers LLP, law professors and students fromShanghai universities, and family and friends of the scholarshiprecipients. Professor Chen Jingying, Dean of SIFT School of Lawattended the ceremony.
Mr. Li Qiang, managing partner of O’Melveny Shanghai Office, andMr. Walker J. Wallace, partner in O’Melveny’s China practice,presented the awards to scholarship recipients. On behalf of theselection panel, Professor Chen made a speech encouraging studentsto excel in law studies.
Top award winners were interviewed by Mr. Li at the ceremony. Mr.Li Ke, SIFT graduate student, and Ms. Li Zhenzhen, handled thequestions quite well and impressed the audience.
O’Melveny Shanghai Scholarship Program selects winners through astrict competitive bidding process, including application,screening and interview, from three leading law schools inShanghai: Fudan University School of Law, East China University ofPolitical Science and Law, and Shanghai Institute of Foreign TradeSchool of Law.
