SIFT School of Finance Hosts SIFT-KAF Forum

SIFT-KAF Forum on “Euro, Yuan and Dollar – The Struggle for a NewGlobal Order” was held at SIFT on 15 August 2012. Sponsored by SIFTSchool of Finance and Konrad Adenauer Foundation, the event wasattended by some 40 scholars from Kiel University, the Universityof Duesseldorf, the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, the ShanghaiAcademy of Social Sciences, and the Shanghai Institute ofInternational Studies. At the forum, Professor Xu Yonglin, fromSIFT School of Finance, delivered a speech entitled “The Next StepsTowards the Liberalization and Internationalization of the RMB”.Shen Yichao, Xiao Qingfeng, and Gao Jianli, three graduate studentsof SIFT School of Finance, also gave a speech respectively on thetopic of “Shanghai as a Global Financial Hub – Opportunities andChallenges”, “From Imitation to Innovation – China as a FutureWorld Leader in Research and Development?”, and “China’s Reform andOpening-up Policy as a Model for Developing Countries”.

 

Earlier on 11 July, SIFT-KAF Forum on “Regional Challenges forEconomic Governance from a Chinese Perspective” was held at SIFT.Present at the forum were Mr. Michael Fuchs, deputy parliamentaryfloor leader for the German Christian Democrats, and about tenexperts and teachers from the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciencesand SIFT School of Finance. At the forum, Professor Xu Yonglin,Associate Professor Fu Liankong, and Professor Feng Xiaobing, fromthe School of Finance, gave a speech respectively titled “ProblemsAssociated with the Debt of Local Governments in China”,“Challenges for the Transformation of the Chinese Economy”, and“China’s Role for Stabilizing the Global Banking”.
