Notified by the European Law Students' Association (ELSA), Prof.Zhanglei, WTO Chair Holder and Dean of the WTO Research andEducation School of SIFT was appointed as the Constant AcademicBoard Member of ElSA Moot Court Competition (EMC2). Beginning in2001, EMC2 is organized by ELSA. In its early development, EMC2held its preliminary round in European countries and final round inGeneva. With increasing needs for a global participation, EMC2 hasexpanded to include participants from six different areas such asAsia Pacific, Europe, North America, etc.
Internationally ELSA organizes two moot court competitions: Theglobal ELSA Moot Court Competition on WTO Law and the EuropeanHuman Rights Moot Court Competition. The former is a simulatedhearing of the WTO dispute settlement system with an aim toencourage further development on the subject matter of the WTO inthe curriculum of academic institutions, to contribute to theongoing discussion regarding globalization in the context of theWTO Agreements, and to assist countries in developing theirtechnical legal capacity by preparing the next generation of tradelawyers and negotiators. The ELSA Moot Court Competition and theJessup International Law Moot Court Competition are two mostimportant moot court competitions in the world.
