As was announced in a recent conference, the SIFT Shanghai SocialSciences Innovative Research Based received an “Excellent” rating.
Jointly sponsored by the Shanghai Municipal Planning Office forPhilosophy and Social Sciences (SMPOPSS) and Development ResearchCenter of the Shanghai Municipal People’s Government (SMPGDRC), the2011 Annual Conference of Shanghai Social Sciences InnovativeResearch Bases and Shanghai Development Strategy Research InstituteStudios was held at Shanghai University of Finance and Economics on12 March 2012. Mr. Pan Shiwei, Vice Director of the InformationDepartment of the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee, Mr. ZhouZhenhua, Director of SMPGDRC, and Mr. Rong Yueming, Director ofSMPOPSS, attended the conference, which was presided by Zhu Jinhai,Vice Director of SMPGDRC. Professor Ye Xingguo, Vice President ofSIFT, Professor Wen Yaoqing, Director of SIFT Research and ProjectAdministration, and Professor Shen Yuliang, Dean of SIFT BusinessSchool and Director of SIFT Economic and Trade Research Center,also attended the conference.
At the conference, Professor Shen gave a detailed account of theprogress of research made in 2011 by the SIFT Shanghai SocialSciences Innovative Research Base (aka Wang Xinkui Studio),including its fieldwork, its four research teams in collaborationwith overseas researchers, and its two outreach research platforms,namely, the Shanghai Hongqiao Trade Zone Workstation and theIntegrated Bonded Area Research Center of Shanghai Trade CenterDevelopment Base. Based on its survey of regional headquarters ofmultinational corporations in Shanghai, the European Union Chamberof Commerce and the US Chamber of Commerce in China, and theShanghai Integrated Bonded Area, the SIFT Shanghai Social SciencesInnovative Research Base produced a number of research reports,which met with a favorable reception from SMPOPSS and SMPGDRC.
According to the results of the mid-term assessment of researchbases and studios released by Mr. Li Huaxin, Acting Director of theThird-party Review Board and former Director of the Office ofShanghai Municipal Decision-making Consulting Committee, the SIFTShanghai Social Sciences Innovative Research Base was rated“Excellent”.
