On October 28th, John Shaw, Vice-Chancellor of the University ofEast London (UEL) visited the Gubei Campus of Shanghai Institute ofForeign Trade (SHIFT). QIU Guixi, Dean of School of InternationalStudies of SHIFT met with John Shaw.
Dean Qiu briefed the guest on the recent developments of SHIFT’sinternationalization in recent years and showed John Shaw aroundthe Campus. Meanwhile, the visiting guest met the 19 students fromUEL who studied in SHIFT this semester. During the meeting, heinquired carefully about their life and studies in Shanghai andencouraged them to cherish the opportunities of studying here. Thestudents gave their vice-chancellor a very positive feedback andsaid that they really enjoyed studying here and had completelyadapted to the new environment. They deeply appreciated thearrangements of SHIFT. It is the first time for UEL to send thestudents from Royal Docks Business School to study in SHFIT forsemester-based exchanging program. In the next year, UEL willJointly with SHIFT start a “10+10”global summer program, whichmeans 10 days in Shanghai and 10 days in London, with the 2012London Olympics as the highlighted advantage, so that theparticipants can experience two different cultures in a singleprogram.
