On December 11th, the final of “21st Century Cup” National EnglishSpeaking Competition in Shanghai was held in Tongji University.SIFT junior student Wang Qinyi majoring in assets assessment ranfor the competition on behalf of SIFT. She won the first prize inthe final due to her good language competence, unique point of viewand sound performance. Dai jiaqi, teacher from SIFT school offoreign languages, helped her prepare for the competition.
“21st Century Cup” National English Speaking Competition wasfounded by China Daily in 1996 and held by 21st Century newspaper.This competition is open to students from institutions of higherlearning across China including Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan. Thisyear saw more than 800 students subscribe for the competition. Thecompetition consisted of three sessions, namely prepared speech,impromptu speech and Q&A session. The topic was “Growing upwith the Internet: Who are we —the Net Generation?”
