On October 16th, SIFT held a symposium on internationalization ofhigher education: opportunities and challenges. Sun Haiming, SIFTPresident, Yang Weiren, department head of the Shanghai MunicipalEducation Commission, presidents of overseas partner universitiesand other guests who were here to attend the 50th anniversarycelebration were present at the symposium. Deans of SIFT schoolsand representatives of teachers and students were also present. Thesymposium was chaired by vice president Xu Xiaowei.
President Sun Haiming made a keynote speech on SIFTinternationalized way of running the university. He reviewed SIFT’sinternational exchanges since mid-1990s, summarized theachievements in construction of teachers troop, students exchange,international cooperation and research, and looked into futures ofSIFT internationalized way of operation.
Yang Weiren, head of International Exchange Office in ShanghaiMunicipal Education Commission, addressed on the current situationand developing prospect of higher education internationalization inShanghai.
