The first Poem Recitation Competition for overseas students washeld in the multifunction classroom of School of InternationalStudies on Gubei Campus. The competition had two sessions,attracting 30 students from France, Japan and 5 other countries.Qiu Guixi, Dean of School of International Studies, and 7 otherteachers were present at the competition as commentators. Tanya andother 4 overseas students outstood in the fierce competition.
The overseas students have been studying Chinese in SIFT School ofInternational Studies. With accurate pronunciation and thoroughunderstanding of the poems, they recited many famous ancient andmodern Chinese poems. Dean Qiu Guixi spoke highly of theirperformance, saying that this competition tested students’ Chineselanguage proficiency and inspired their passion for learningChinese. He also hoped that students make unremitting efforts tolearn Chinese and Chinese culture to further understand China.
