To accelerate the development of urgently needed export control talent and enhance the quality of high-level export control talent, a meeting on export control talent development and consultation forum on industry demand for export control talent were held at the Changning Campus of SUIBE on the morning of August 19.

Wang Rongming, President of SUIBE, noted in his remarks that export control is an important means of safeguarding national security and development interests, and that export control talent is an essential pillar of a modern national export control system. SUIBE has established a leading group for export control talent development and an interdisciplinary center for export control talent development. The university is also innovating its talent development model by introducing a dual-supervisor system featuring two academic supervisors from different disciplines within the university and one industry supervisor from outside the university. It is actively exploring a high-level talent development system that integrates undergraduate, master’s and doctoral programs and promotes interdisciplinary collaboration across economics, law, and political science. He said that the meeting marked a new starting point for SUIBE to work with universities and business leaders across the country to build a nationwide collaborative network for developing high-level export control talent. Through these efforts, the university will make greater contributions to safeguarding China’s economic security and supporting high-standard opening up.
Zhao Zhongxiu, President of the University of International Business and Economics, emphasized in his concluding remarks that the meeting featured extensive exchanges and generated fruitful outcomes. The eight participating universities have each developed distinctive approaches to and achieved notable progress in export control talent development. Universities should further recognize the strategic importance and urgency of developing high-level export control talent and actively promote innovation in talent development models in line with their respective strengths and distinctive characteristics.
